Have you ever consider translating the Brave Saga 2 manga?

There’s a Brave Saga manga? Drop a link, my dude.

Wow, thanks! Wasn’t even aware this existed.

The short answer is no, there is nil chance of me scanlating this.

          The long answer:
Ichishiki Masato, the artist of this manga, seems to be haunting me. He’s the artist of the first multi-chapter manga I ever scanlated (see “Sword Eyes”, above), which was also an adaptation. Said project was inconcise, full of vertically-oriented speech bubbles, was poorly paced/characterized due to corporate reasons, and really didn’t do the anime justice. I mostly went through with it because the franchise was my obsession at that stage of life and I thought that everything related to it “deserved” translation.
While I don’t know the contents of the second volume, a quick perusal of the first has revealed similar enough symptoms to Ichishiki’s other works that I’m loathe to touch it. Maybe it’d be easier now that I’ve got more experience, but said experience also says that it’s not worth it.

Sorry to bother you again, but you mentioned the artist is Ichishiki Masato, but I see at the end of the volume a Masaki Nanbu guy, is that a pseudonym or I’m confusing the guy?

I ask because I’ve been trying to get a hold of the artist be on twitter or other social media to ask him a few questions regarding the exclusive mecha from this manga.

        • daburuwosagase January 20, 2019 / 2:06 am

The manga’s *artist* is Ichishiki. Nanbu did the *design* for the original mecha, and says in the last few pages that he “drew the references, but the design concept was done with input from Ichishiki”. Also mentions that he felt a lot of pressure making it live up to the Brave franchise as (one of) its last robots.

Any concerns in particular you wanted to ask the designer? Could probably skim to see if your question’s already been answered.

What I wanted to know is what is the color scheme for Swordion since all the pages he appears in are in Black and White. At least Swon (or however it’s called) appears in color on the first couple of pages in Vol.1

i dear, can you translate the other series of battle spirits? battle spirits brave or battle spirits heroes… also can you translate dragon ball heroes victory mission?

    • daburuwosagase February 27, 2019 / 2:47 am

Heroes: I’m never doing Ichishiki works again.
Brave: Unlikely given that a couple chapters from the magazine were just never put in the books.
Dragon Ball: You’re asking the wrong person.
If there’s any BS manga I’d want to translate these days… Gekiha Dan, I guess, but I don’t have all the volumes. Sorry to disappoint, but I do greatly appreciate the interest in these old projects. Thanks!
