Hiatus (Oct. 2023)

So, no major releases for the past three months now, huh? What’s up with that?

Well, I hurt my wrist pretty bad to the point where typing was a struggle. Fortunately I’m on the mend, but it still hurts if I use it too much. Anyway, I kinda need my wrist for daily life. Hobby translating unfortunately pushes me over the brink right now. So [PYRX] is on break as a whole.

I’ve arranged things with affiliates such that all ongoing projects will be taken over… with the exception of the Hakaiou manga. I know that’s what most of you are here for. The current release schedule is extremely infrequent/inconvenient anyway (only 2 chapters this whole year). Whoever wants to pick it up, be my guest. You have the entire novel and also SRW at your disposal. I’m willing to forward my resources/style guides with ESTABLISHED scan groups/translators.

If I ever get around to reading the Dendoh/Granzort novels, I’ll do summaries. No promises. Definitely not doing anything that requires typesetting or timing, and there won’t be any releases for the rest of this year.

Anyway, here’s the rest of the karaoke styles I did for Saikyo Kamizmode! I actually finished these up last year. You’ll be able to see them in the upcoming [BOIL] batch. Honestly there are a few I’m dissatisfied with in hindsight, but ya just gotta live and learn. It was fun to dabble in karaoke typesetting!

June 2023 Updates

TL;DR ongoing projects update: Nowhere Zone has gotten another two chapters uploaded, Uramon has been slowly moving again, and Hotel Metsäpeura and Bird in Wonderland are following the tankobon releases at a regular pace. I’m switching between a handful of different backlog projects and haven’t gotten very far with any of them.

The ride never ends

Update 3/17: The last part of Hakai just dropped on Yatate. It’s very conclusive. It’s very satisfying. I’m officially committing to translating the last chapter, but the very last update was 2x the usual length, so expect it to take a while longer. If you are REALLY curious about the finale, you can find some MAJOR spoilers at this link. Would advise against it, though.

So much for “FINAL of ALL”. The Hakaiou story installments after number.08 have been retroactively renamed to “number.09 Circle -RING- 2017 A.D.”, and the installments after the new year will be resetting to “FINAL of ALL vs -VERSUS- 2017 A.D.”. A pdf will be coming soon.

This novel has been threatening to end for months now but just refuses to die. Takeda, the author, has been severely underestimating the word count he needs to tie everything up. It was supposed to conclude by the end of the year. Maybe if Takeda stopped padding it by repeating the same exposition about the TSS and 000 over and over, we’d be done by now. Any excitement I used to have has been replaced by a sense of dread.

August updates + survey

Now that number.08 is complete, it’s the perfect time for another reader survey! Mostly the same as the last one, but it doesn’t hurt to check in. We have an estimated five updates left before Hakaiou is complete. I intend on doing revised editions of mid-later series pdfs as well as the manga once the print versions are released. The survey will be open for the next month or so.

The next batch of Gaist Crusher subs will be coming next month, since I want to get the third batch timed before dropping this one. But if you’re dying to know what happens next, you can volunteer for the job…
EDIT 8/15: This may no longer be a one-man project! Nice.

Externally, new Kaitou Joker translations are moving along, which means a slightly reduced amount of content here.

Updates (May)

High time for another site update.

Hakaiou’s ramped up its updates to twice a month, so expect that more often. Give me a week of leeway to actually translate them, though. The physical copies of the LN/manga vol.2s are out in Japan, but given the shipping situation right now, those are not coming anytime soon.

There’s no extra GGG side material translation lined up at the moment. For one, the physical copies of what I’d want to work on are at another residence, and for another, bi-monthly is frequent enough.

Apologies for raising hopes on this one, but I won’t be translating any more full Wataru chapters. Bandai Channel taking down their video selection did a number on my motivation; there’s not much point to doing side material if the original series isn’t available. I may post chapter summaries once it’s complete, though.

And that project hinted at a while back is coming… soon.

New year news

Over the past month I made a ton of readability edits to past Hakaiou chapters and built a lengthy style guide so we can be slightly more consistent in the future. The PDFs have all gotten v2s, with illustrations from the print version added as well. Long overdue stuff. So if you’ve been waiting to read the web novel, now’s your chance.

According to Takeda, the last chapter of Hakaiou will be number.09, and halfway through the year, the pace will be upped to two updates per month so that it can wrap up within the year without any more gaps.

To be honest, I’ve been getting quite sick of working on the same franchise nonstop, so I’ll be taking a break this month. Either to work on something else, or just to focus on real life (and re:mind). I miss subbing…

Edit: I threatened to do this a few months back but only just got around to it, so here’s a ko-fi for those who have asked.
